A Family Surprize Weekend
The weekend really brought many pleasant surprizes & made me realize how in this modern world distances can be ignored by technology. Received a phone call from my brother,Jim, who recently moved to Sandy,Utah with his wife & my niece,Dezerae. They arrived okay and are enjoying the area with mountains in the distance. While we were talking, they were able to observe a dark storm sky when suddenly I heard him say"It's a double rainbow!"-I could only imagine & remember how when we lived in Germany all the times we had seen double rainbows. But they are doing well there,Dezi is settled in school, his job is going well,& their cat,Psycho, survived the trip well in the truck with them. Then, hubby & I were sitting in the living room watching a college football game when I thought I saw someone walk past our window & in shock I told him"Aunt Marian is at our front door!". Needless to say we hurried to put our two dogs out back in their fence as they would have loved her to death & opened the door to welcome her. She is my Great Aunt(was my mom's aunt) but the amazing thing is she will be 100 yrs old next May!! She looks so well, still walks as much as she can, cooks, does crafts & enjoys traveling which she was doing that day with her one son,Neil. She lives on a draft horse farm with her daughter & son-in-law in Seville,Ohio. Hopefully next year we will have a big family party for her! She & Neil came up to visit Geneva,Ashtabula(where they lived years ago) & to visit me as I am the only one in this part of the family who continues to write to her. Even though their visit was a brief one,it meant so much!!! Then I received a text message from our youngest daughter,Steffany, that she & hubby Rob were in Washington state on their way to Laurel,MD. by Monday. They are our long haul truckers & love it. My weekend was made complete when we were visited by middle daughter,Amy,who is the LPN,and "Aunt Amy" had brought our 2-yr-old granddaughter,Jessica to visit. What a little spitfire she is,but we wouldn't trade her precious tight hugs for anything this world could offer. So this is really what makes it all worth it,hearing from & seeing the special loved ones we hold dear to our hearts. |

The Quiet
Each day is a new adventure, and I hope I never lose the willingness to learn something new during each one. Today I am so happy I learned how to upload my photos so from now on I will be adding them. When I was out at the pond today I enjoyed watching the 5 resident frogs taking advantage of the sunshine-they are 3 sizes which I think is fascinating. Also saw many tadpoles swimming and trying to hide from the big dark shadow that suddenly came across their safe haven. Will be watching them each day to see how they grow until the weather turns too cold for them. |

Turning Over A New Leaf
I heard this expression today and thought WOW,that could fit alot-first since it's September(a new school year for some)- second since is close to Autumn and the leaves will be turning-third,I need to make some changes in my routine & life- fourth, since this is a date to be remembered I feel a need to look at things with a new attitude. So here I am. There is so much I want to do and say but am afraid I tend to ramble, but I have to start somewhere so here I am. The reason I named this as such is we have such a nice pond out back of our house & it does have frogs which I collect and love. Will try to set my thinking around it alot as it is calming to me & I spend alot of time sitting in our swing beside it just watching and thinking. In life we need a calming center and this is mine. When I learn how I will post a couple photos of it here also & add more as the seasons change. So thank you for joining me-grab yourself a nice relaxing cup of tea or coffee or juice and come sit beside the calm country pond and enjoy the quiet. Thanks for stopping by. Until next time,Cherie |
